Have you ever wished you could do something to help a child in need?
Well…here’s your chance! We all know that we’re approaching the ‘Back To School’ season and so many of our children are gearing up anticipating that famous return of that first day of school that we all can remember so vividly.
But for many returning students at the Martin Weiss Elementary School, that day will not be as exciting as it should be because they won’t have the necessary school supplies. We have learned that 98% of the enrollment at this school is eligible for free/reduced lunch, which is our indicator of high need. Sadly, there are generally 25-30 students in a 5th grade class.
It is our endeavor to support as many 5th grade students as we can by providing them all with a backpack full of the necessary school supplies appropriate for a 5th grade student. Please help us support a 5th grade student by volunteering to purchase a backpack and/or supplies. If you can’t make any purchases, monetary donations in any amount would be greatly appreciated. We want to ensure that each student is afforded a fresh start at an opportunity for a successful school year.
Donations and/or supplies must be received no later than Saturday, August 14, 2010. This will allot ample time to stuff backpacks and determine what is lacking prior to the school start date of August 23rd.

Please be sure to send us your donation Confirmation Number as your Back To School Donation will be acknowledged by the Dallas Independent School District.
Also, for ongoing aid and collaborative assistance to many who find themselves in need, please consider becoming a monthly subscriber. Your $9 monthly donation, which is barely lunch for most of us, can make a world of difference to someone in need.
